Try as I may to find REAL WORK, I continue to ply my skills as a designer. I bought the degree, and I still owe the school money. Experience Freelance 2D Illustrator/ Graphic Designer 2007 - Present San Francisco, CA § 2D Illustration: Vector/ Digital, Watercolor, Marker, Color Pencil, Charcoal § Create custom graphics (including logo, flyer, brochure design, bitmap to vector, photo manipulation, etc.) for clients Ad Designer/ Web Graphics 05/07 to 10/07 The News Star, Monroe, La. § Design and Build News Paper ads, primarily car and real estate § Create banners and graphics for TheNewsStar.com § Worked with a team of graphic designers in a very high pace environment. Basically, I designed and built ads for the news paper and special publications (tabloids, inserts, magazines). The deadlines were always tight and we would get last minute ads alot. I recall several times I was handed an ad to build that had to go to print in a few hours. Full page AND double trucks! Lots of late hours and frustration, but I always felt it was worth it. It is always rewarding when a client says how much they liked their ad. Secretly, even after years of it, I still enjoy seeing an ad I made in print. As far as tools, we usd Macs, OS10 and Freehand, Quark 6 and InDesign. Freelance Graphic Artist/ Illustrator/ Web Design 01/07 to 05/07 Dynametry Graphix, West Monroe, La. § Create custom graphics (including logo, flyer, brochure design, bitmap to vector, photo manipulation, etc.) for clients § Create illustrations digitally or by hand. § Design and create web sites for clients § Handle printing of work for clients by finding the best printing price, double checking proofs and delivery. I was actually able to make a living for a few months doing freelance and cooperated with a couple of local marketing firms on mutual customer's web sites and publications. I used my personal PC and Adobe CS2, Flash and Dreamweaver. I eventually had to seek full time employment though, due to non-payment issues. Graphic Designer / Marketing 01/06 to 12/06 Bayou Internet, Monroe, La. § Design and create marketing material and ads for Bayou Internet § Design custom graphics for Bayou Internet clients § Assist in web design graphics and some limited site production and updating. § Create email newsletters and announcements I was an in-house graphic designer and marketing researcher for a local ISP trying to expand into a more business customer base. I provided marketing plans and various advertisments for this. I was provided with a PC with Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver. This was a company with less than 25 employees so I wore many hats including executive assistant, web design, tech support, sales & receptionist (we went 2 months without one and the responcibility was divided between the female employees.) Art Director 03/05 to 01/06 Group One Reality, West Monroe, La. § Design and create marketing materials for Realtors § Design, create and manage all corporate advertising with News Star Paper (Double Truck), Your Home Magazine (40 Pages), Brent Green Magazine (20 pages), radio and cable. § Design and print onsite: business cards, postcards, flyers and brochures. I loved working here because I was always busy designing new materials for the 50-some-odd realtors, escrow, mortgage and home improvment divisions of Group One. By the last couple of months, I operated with almost complete autonomy and answered directly to the company owner. I used a PC with Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash and Adobe Premiere. Freelance Graphic Artist 09/03 to 03/05 BBGpro, Jacksonville, NC § Create custom graphics for clients I was a full time student during this time but supplimented my income with freelance work and some web design.
